10 February 2012 - How sad it is that we humans are constantly at odds with one another because of the unimportant labels we use to describe one another. It is time that we start concentrating on important things and stop trying to put subjective connotations on labels which imply things that concepts don't implicitly mean?
Atheism as a label does not mean anything beyond "I do not believe in god." Sam Harris, in explaining the true meaning of Atheism, said, “In fact, ’atheism‘ is a term that should not even exist. No one ever needs to identify himself as a ’non-astrologer‘ or a ’non-alchemist.’ We do not have words for people who doubt that Elvis is still alive or that aliens have traversed the galaxy only to molest ranchers and their cattle. Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make in the presence of unjustified religious beliefs.” ...
